Carlos H. Arteaga Duarte

Senior Health Economist and co-founder of HEOR ValueHub, Carlos holds a master in business engineering from the Solvay Business School (ULB/VUB Brussels) and a Master in health Economics from the London School of Economics where he conducted research on the cost effectiveness of HIV-1 prophylactic medication among MSMs in Belgium. Carlos has a specialization in the economic modelling of vaccines and infectious diseases. He also holds Clinical Field Specialist certifications in cardiology (cardiac valves, electrophysiology, access to closure), and certifications in clinical research (CRA) and in project management (PRINCE II).

After working in the medical devices industry (Abbott, formerly St Jude medical), Carlos further developped his career as health economics and market access consultant at the HEOR & Real World Evidence department at IQVIA (formerly Quintiles-IMS).
In addition to leading and conducting projects in health economic modelling (cost-effectiveness and budget-impact modeling) of novel technologies in oncology, neurology, rheumatology, hematology, psychiatry, metabolic & immunological disorders (among others); Carlos was responsible for pricing and reimbursement submissions in several European countries (including submissions in orphan indications).

Carlos’ areas of expertise include the writing of scientific manuscripts/abstracts/posters, and conducting Delphi panels and advisory boards. He has experience taking dossiers through the assessment and appraisal phases in Belgium and The Netherlands (including iterations and replies to queries of the National drug reimbursement commissions).

Carlos is proficient in English, French, Spanish and Dutch.
