Maria De Francesco

Senior Health Economist and co-founder of HEOR ValueHub, Maria’s principal areas of expertise are health economic modelling, HTA processes internationally, systematic literature reviews, primary and secondary research methods, and statistical analysis for use in economic evaluation.
She has a BA Economics (first class hons) and holds an MSc in International Health Policy (Health Economics) from The London School of Economics. She conducted research on HIV risk perception (Tanzania) and supported the Department of Health (GES, England) in assessing the cost-effectiveness of MSSA screening in elective cardiothoracic surgery.

She built a career as a health economics and market access consultant in the HEOR & Real World Evidence team at IQVIA (formerly Quintiles-IMS), leading and conducting the development of cost-effectiveness & budget-impact models (as part of global value dossiers and local adaptions). Maria has worked on economic evaluations of technologies in heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cancers, hepatic, ophthalmology, neurological, immunological disorders (among others). In addition, she supported pricing and reimbursement submissions in different European countries.

Maria is currently working with iDSI to provide technical assistance to the Department of Health Research (DHR), Government of India, relating to the programme of work in building capacity to undertake HTA.

Maria is highly skilled in project management involving the coordination of multiple resources and tasks (ensuring timely and high quality project delivery); scientific writing; influencing and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders; delivering training to audiences with different levels of expertise; delivering excellent oral presentations; and conducting expert panels and advisory boards.

Maria is fluent in Italian and English. Spoken French and Portuguese. Beginners Dutch.
